Store Policies

Shipping

We are located in Arkansas and ship dahlia tubers when weather conditions are appropriate to ensure safe arrival. Shipping begins with warmer states and progresses north as temperatures allow.

Shipping is a flat rate of $15 per order, regardless of whether you purchase one tuber or multiple varieties. Orders are shipped via a standard carrier, such as USPS or UPS, depending on the order size and destination.

Once a package leaves our facility, Annie’s Dahlia Shop is not responsible for shipping delays, lost packages, or damage caused by the carrier, extreme weather, or other circumstances beyond our control. Customers are responsible for providing an accurate shipping address at checkout. Orders returned due to an incorrect or incomplete address may require additional shipping charges to be resent.

If multiple orders are placed under the same name and address, we will do our best to combine shipping when possible. Any shipping refunds or credits related to combined orders are issued at our discretion.

Returns, Refunds, and Claims

Due to the nature of live plants and tubers, all sales are final, and we do not accept returns.

If you receive tubers that are damaged or unusable upon arrival, please contact us within 72 hours of delivery and include clear photos of the tubers and original packaging. Claims are reviewed on a case-by-case basis, and we may offer a replacement, store credit, or refund at our discretion.

After the 72-hour claim window, responsibility for tuber care and storage rests entirely with the purchaser. We cannot be held responsible for issues that arise after this period, including improper storage, shriveling, dehydration, exposure to weather, growing conditions, pest or animal damage, failure to sprout, poor plant performance, or improper handling. Once tubers have been planted, no refunds, replacements, or credits will be offered.

Limit of Liability

By purchasing from Annie’s Dahlia Shop, the buyer assumes all risk associated with growing dahlia tubers. Our responsibility is limited to the original purchase price of the tuber or tubers in question and only within the 72-hour claim period.

We do not guarantee plant performance, bloom quality, size, color, or longevity. Growing success depends on many factors beyond our control, including soil health, climate, weather, and individual growing practices.

Variety Identification

We take great care to label and track our dahlia varieties accurately throughout the growing and dividing process. However, due to the nature of tuber production, occasional misidentification can occur. By purchasing, customers acknowledge this possibility. Refunds, replacements, or credits are not offered for variety discrepancies.

Photos shown on our website are representative of the variety. Bloom color, size, and form may vary depending on growing conditions and environment.

Dormancy and Sprouting

Dahlia tubers may arrive dormant, and visible eyes may not be present at the time of shipment. Dormancy is normal and does not indicate an unviable tuber.

While all tubers are sold with the intent that they are viable, we cannot guarantee sprouting, growth, or flowering. Successful growth depends on proper storage, planting techniques, and environmental conditions after arrival.

Virus and Sanitation

Research referenced by the American Dahlia Society indicates that a high percentage of dahlia plants, often without visible symptoms, can carry dormant viruses. This is a known and unavoidable reality in dahlia production.

On our farm, we take proactive steps to minimize risk and maintain healthy stock. Plants are monitored throughout the growing season, and any that show signs of disease are promptly removed. Tools are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized between cuts and during the dividing process, and our fields are closed to outside harvesting to reduce the potential for contamination. Approximately 90% of our tubers are grown in grow bags, allowing for additional isolation and monitoring.

We do not individually test plants for viruses, as testing is destructive and not practical for retail tuber sales. For this reason, we cannot guarantee that tubers are virus-free. Refunds or replacements are not offered for suspected or confirmed virus symptoms. Symptoms such as leaf curling, discoloration, spotting, or stunted growth can result from many factors and do not necessarily indicate a virus unless confirmed through official testing. In many cases, virus symptoms are cosmetic and may not affect bloom production.

By purchasing, customers acknowledge and accept this inherent risk.
